Ferrari Silverstone 2026: upgrades, pace and title talk

News - 2026-07-07

Ferrari brought more updates to Silverstone, while Lewis Hamilton said the pace was better than feared and Fred Vasseur cooled title talk.

Ferrari brought further updates to Silverstone, with Formula1.com reporting that Ferrari and McLaren both introduced more new parts during the British Grand Prix weekend. Autosport also reported that Lewis Hamilton had expected Ferrari to be around six tenths down on the straights before the weekend, so the car’s pace was stronger than he had feared. Hamilton is third in the 2026 drivers' championship on 147 points, with Charles Leclerc fourth on 108.

Recent results have sharpened attention on Ferrari’s progress. BBC Sport reported that Hamilton’s win in Spain could have an impact on Ferrari, while Motorsport.com reported that Ferrari’s British Grand Prix victory was the team’s 250th in Formula 1. Ferrari remains the sport’s most successful constructor, with 250 wins and 16 constructors’ titles across 77 seasons.

Even so, Ferrari is not presenting the situation as a championship push. Autosport and Motorsport.com both reported Fred Vasseur saying he did not want to discuss title prospects yet because the team’s level has changed from one weekend to the next.
