Bahrain Grand Prix Sepang switch reported

News - 2026-08-03 - By Jenny Marsh

Autosport and Motorsport.com report Bahrain’s F1 round is set for Sepang, with Pirelli expected to use 2017 data if the move is confirmed.

Autosport and Motorsport.com reported that Formula 1’s Bahrain Grand Prix is set to be held at Sepang, although no confirmation is included in the supplied material. Both outlets said Pirelli is preparing for that scenario and would rely on data from the circuit’s last spell on the calendar in 2017.

According to those reports, Bahrain could not run the event in its original April slot, or later in the year, because of the Iran war. The same reports said Bahrain then reached an agreement with the FIA, Formula 1 and Malaysia for Sepang to host the round.

Both outlets also reported that Pirelli has outlined the tyre considerations created by a return to Sepang. Until an official announcement arrives, the switch remains a reported development rather than a confirmed calendar change.
