Formula 1 confirmed Sepang will host the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix on 2-4 October, returning Malaysia to the calendar for the first time since 2017.

Formula 1 has confirmed that Sepang will host the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix on 2-4 October, bringing Malaysia back onto the calendar for the first time since 2017. RaceFans reported the event will keep the Bahrain Grand Prix name despite being held in Malaysia.

BBC Sport had earlier reported that Malaysia was set to stage an October replacement for the Bahrain race that was called off earlier in the season. Autosport and Motorsport.com also reported that Sepang was chosen after disruption to the original Middle East schedule, with both outlets saying the regional conflict affected plans for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The switch returns Formula 1 to Sepang after a nine-year absence. Autosport reported that the championship and the FIA made the announcement on 26 July after weeks of speculation over how the postponed Bahrain round would be accommodated.
