Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024: Leclerc takes pole
Charles Leclerc took pole for the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix with a 1:41.365 lap, 0.321s ahead of Oscar Piastri as Ferrari placed two cars in the top three.
Charles Leclerc took pole position for Ferrari at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on 15 September 2024 with a Q3 lap of 1:41.365. Oscar Piastri qualified second for McLaren at the Baku City Circuit, 0.321s slower on 1:41.686.
Qualifying
Carlos Sainz qualified third for Ferrari with a best Q3 time of 1:41.805, putting Ferrari two cars in the top three. Sergio Pérez took fourth for Red Bull on 1:41.813, while George Russell was fifth for Mercedes on 1:41.874.
Max Verstappen ended the session sixth for Red Bull with a 1:42.023 after a 1:42.042 in Q2. Lewis Hamilton qualified seventh for Mercedes on 1:42.289, and Fernando Alonso took eighth for Aston Martin with a 1:42.369.

Leclerc progressed through qualifying with laps of 1:42.775 in Q1, 1:42.056 in Q2 and 1:41.365 in Q3. Piastri moved through with 1:43.033 in Q1 and 1:42.598 in Q2 before a 1:41.686 final lap secured second place.
Top 10
Franco Colapinto qualified ninth for Williams with a Q3 lap of 1:42.530 after a 1:42.473 in Q2. Alexander Albon completed the top 10 for Williams on 1:42.859 after reaching Q3 with a 1:42.840 lap in Q2.
