George Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring on 28 June 2026, finishing 1.611 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. Andrea Kimi Antonelli took third for Mercedes and left round 8 leading the drivers' championship on 171 points.

Race

Russell converted pole position into victory for Mercedes with a race time of 1:26:37.979, while Verstappen climbed from fifth on the grid to second for Red Bull. Antonelli started fourth and finished third at +1.986, giving Mercedes two cars on the podium.

Oscar Piastri gained three places from seventh to fourth for McLaren and finished +21.809 behind the winner. Lewis Hamilton took fifth for Ferrari after starting third, while Isack Hadjar finished sixth for Red Bull from eighth on the grid. Lando Norris crossed the line seventh for McLaren after starting sixth, and Charles Leclerc dropped from second on the grid to eighth for Ferrari at +45.659.

Liam Lawson finished ninth for RB F1 Team and Arvid Lindblad took tenth for RB F1 Team, with both drivers listed as Lapped. Lawson scored two points from ninth on the grid, while Lindblad added one point after starting tenth.

Championship

Antonelli remained first in the drivers' championship after the race with 171 points. Russell moved to second on 131 points, and Hamilton held third on 125 points.
