George Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix at Red Bull Ring on 30 June 2024, beating Oscar Piastri by 1.906 seconds. Russell started third for Mercedes and took 25 points, while pole-sitter Max Verstappen finished fifth for Red Bull.

Race

Russell completed the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix in 1:24:22.798 and gave Mercedes victory from third on the grid. Piastri climbed from seventh to second for McLaren at +1.906, and Carlos Sainz finished third for Ferrari from fourth on the grid at +4.533.

Lewis Hamilton placed fourth in the second Mercedes after starting fifth, finishing 23.142 seconds behind the winner. Verstappen dropped from pole position to fifth at +37.253, while Nico Hülkenberg moved from ninth to sixth for Haas F1 Team and Sergio Pérez took seventh for Red Bull from eighth on the grid.

Kevin Magnussen added eighth for Haas F1 Team after starting 12th, Daniel Ricciardo finished ninth for RB F1 Team from 11th, and Pierre Gasly took the final point in 10th for Alpine F1 Team from 13th. Fernando Alonso recorded the fastest lap in 1:07.694 on lap 70.

Championship

Verstappen remained first in the drivers' championship after round 11 with 237 points despite finishing fifth in Austria. Lando Norris stayed second on 156 points, and Charles Leclerc held third on 150 points.
