George Russell took pole for the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix by 0.236s from Charles Leclerc, with Mercedes and Ferrari filling the front two rows.

George Russell took pole position for the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring with a Q3 lap of 1:06.113. Charles Leclerc qualified second for Ferrari, 0.236 seconds behind Russell on a 1:06.349.

Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton placed third for Ferrari with a 1:06.408 in Q3, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured fourth for Mercedes with a 1:06.414. That left Mercedes and Ferrari occupying the first two rows for round eight of the season on 28 June 2026.

Max Verstappen qualified fifth for Red Bull with a 1:06.475 after laps of 1:07.407 in Q1 and 1:07.183 in Q2. McLaren put Lando Norris sixth on a 1:06.502 and Oscar Piastri seventh on a 1:06.511 after both drivers progressed through Q1 and Q2.

Grid

Isack Hadjar completed the top eight for Red Bull with a 1:06.632 in Q3. RB F1 Team then placed both cars in the final shootout, with Liam Lawson ninth on 1:06.955 and Arvid Lindblad 10th on 1:07.007.

Russell had also topped the Mercedes drivers through Q2 with a 1:06.979, while Antonelli recorded a quicker 1:06.763 in that segment before taking fourth on the grid. Hamilton had been the fastest Ferrari in Q1 at 1:07.290, but Leclerc moved ahead in Q3 to secure the front row.
