Austrian Grand Prix 2025: Norris takes pole
Lando Norris took pole for the Austrian Grand Prix with a 1:03.971 lap, 0.521s clear of Charles Leclerc, with McLaren and Ferrari filling the top four.
Lando Norris took pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring with a Q3 lap of 1:03.971. Charles Leclerc qualified second for Ferrari, 0.521s behind Norris on a 1:04.492.
Qualifying
Oscar Piastri placed third for McLaren with a best Q3 time of 1:04.554, while Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth for Ferrari on 1:04.582. George Russell took fifth for Mercedes with a 1:04.763 lap, and Liam Lawson put RB F1 Team sixth on the grid with 1:04.926.
Max Verstappen qualified seventh for Red Bull at the Red Bull Ring after setting 1:04.929 in Q3. Gabriel Bortoleto reached Q3 for Sauber and took eighth with 1:05.132, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli was ninth for Mercedes on 1:05.276.

Norris led every phase of his qualifying progression for McLaren with times of 1:04.672 in Q1, 1:04.410 in Q2 and 1:03.971 in Q3. Leclerc improved from 1:05.197 in Q1 to 1:04.734 in Q2 before securing second place in Q3 for Ferrari.
Top 10
Piastri’s 1:04.966 in Q1 and 1:04.556 in Q2 put him through before his 1:04.554 lap secured third place. Pierre Gasly completed the top 10 for Alpine F1 Team with a Q3 time of 1:05.649 after earlier laps of 1:05.054 in Q1 and 1:04.846 in Q2.
