Audi PU pause until 2027 reported
Autosport and Motorsport.com report Audi does not plan another F1 power unit upgrade before 2027 after its first 2026 update on the Sauber works project.
Audi is not expected to introduce another Formula 1 power unit upgrade before 2027, according to reports from Autosport and Motorsport.com. Autosport reported that racing director Allan McNish said the manufacturer would stop at its first 2026 update rather than add another change before the end of the season.
The same report said Audi took over the Sauber team this year and began its first in-house F1 engine programme. Autosport also reported that the team rarely appeared in the top 10 early in the season before that initial update arrived.
Motorsport.com added that Audi set a target of winning world championships by 2030 when it presented its F1 project in Berlin last winter. With no team statement cited in the supplied sources, the timeline for any further upgrade remains reported rather than officially confirmed.
