Aston Martin targets 2026 Hungarian GP upgrade
BBC Sport and Autosport report Aston Martin is aiming its first major 2026 upgrade at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Alonso saying it will not decide his future.
Aston Martin is reportedly targeting the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix for its first major performance upgrade of the season. BBC Sport reported that team boss Adrian Newey said the revised package is planned for Budapest after a slow opening to the year.
Autosport also reported that Newey hopes the updated car can help convince Fernando Alonso to stay for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The same outlet said Alonso has dismissed the idea that the Hungary upgrade will determine his next move.
Alonso sits 18th in the 2026 drivers' championship on one point. The Spaniard, born on 29 July 1981, has made 432 Formula 1 starts and won 32 races, while Aston Martin is still chasing its first race win and first constructors' title in Formula 1.
