Aston Martin, Honda map next 2026 upgrade moves

BBC Sport and Autosport report Aston Martin rolled out a major Hungary package, with Honda's first 2026 power unit update expected at Zandvoort.

Aston Martin and Honda’s next 2026 development steps are still emerging, but several outlets have outlined the plan. BBC Sport reported that Fernando Alonso said he was optimistic about Aston Martin’s major upgrade at the Hungarian Grand Prix, while Autosport reported that the team introduced its first major AMR26 package there.

Autosport also reported that the Hungary package was Adrian Newey’s first upgrade of the year and that it cut into Aston Martin’s chassis deficit. The same outlet said expectations had been high going into the new rules cycle because of the team’s Silverstone base and its works Honda partnership. Aston Martin has competed in eight Formula 1 seasons between 1959 and 2026 and is still seeking its first race win and constructors’ title.

The next reported step is due at Zandvoort. Autosport reported that Honda is set to bring its first power unit update of the 2026 season there. Honda, founded in 1948, previously raced in Formula 1 across eight seasons from 1964 to 2008, taking three wins and no titles.
