Alpine’s 2026 gains meet Gasly-Colapinto gap
Motorsport.com reported Alpine made strong gains from its 2026 focus, while RaceFans said Franco Colapinto still trails Pierre Gasly at the break.
Motorsport.com reported that Alpine gained more than most teams from switching attention to the 2026 rules early, though it also judged the team’s first half of the season less strongly overall. The same report said Alpine is running Mercedes power units in 2026.
RaceFans reported that Franco Colapinto’s first full season with Alpine has started well, but not well enough to put Pierre Gasly under serious pressure. At the summer break, Gasly was 10th in the drivers’ championship on 42 points, with Colapinto 12th on 19.
Gasly has 187 Formula 1 entries and one win from a career that began in 2017. Colapinto, born in 2003, has entered 36 races across 2024 to 2026, with a best finish of sixth.
