2026 Belgian GP: Alpine on Gasly crash, Colapinto point

Autosport reported that Pierre Gasly’s crash late in second practice at Spa-Francorchamps brought out a red flag after a snap of oversteer at the exit of Les Fagnes. The outlet said Alpine and Gasly addressed the incident afterwards as the team evaluated the damage. Gasly came into the weekend ninth in the 2026 drivers’ championship on 42 points, with one win and six podiums from 187 Formula 1 entries.

Formula1.com reported that Alpine still left Spa with a point after Franco Colapinto finished 10th. The same report said that result helped Alpine avoid losing too much ground to Racing Bulls in the midfield fight, even as the team judged its level below where it needed to be. Colapinto is 12th in the standings on 19 points, and the Argentine’s best Formula 1 finish is sixth.
