Aston Martin retain Alonso and Stroll for 2027
Formula1.com and BBC Sport report Aston Martin will keep Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll for 2027, with four seats still open on next year’s grid.
Formula1.com reported Aston Martin will keep Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll as its 2027 Formula 1 line-up, a move it said leaves four seats still open on next year’s grid. BBC Sport also reported Alonso will stay with the team for at least one more season, while Autosport, Motorsport.com and RaceFans said the new deal ends the uncertainty over his future.
Alonso, 45, has made 432 Formula 1 starts and won 32 races. At the time of the announcement he was 19th in the 2026 drivers' championship on three points. Stroll was 21st on zero points; across 200 Grands Prix, he has one pole position, three podiums and a best finish of third. Aston Martin has competed across eight active seasons in Formula 1 and is still chasing its first race win and first constructors' title.
