Fernando Alonso future talks continue at Aston Martin
Fernando Alonso’s F1 future remains unconfirmed, with reports linking him to Aston Martin again as he pushes for rule changes during a difficult 2026 season.
Fernando Alonso’s Formula 1 future remains unconfirmed. Motorsport.com reported that Alonso is still pushing for better regulations while considering his next step, and added that he is expected to continue with Aston Martin for another season, although no deal has been confirmed.
BBC Sport reported that FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said it would be “not acceptable” for Alonso to leave Formula 1 while he is in an uncompetitive position. Alonso, 44, is a two-time world champion with 432 race entries and 32 wins, and he sits 19th in the 2026 drivers’ championship on three points.
Autosport reported that questions about Alonso’s plans keep surfacing in the paddock. Aston Martin is still chasing its first Formula 1 win and its first constructors’ title across eight active seasons from 1959 to 2026.
