Max Verstappen took Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025 pole by 0.201s from Lando Norris, with McLaren placing Norris and Oscar Piastri second and third.

Max Verstappen took pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 7 December 2025 with a Q3 lap of 1:22.207 at Yas Marina Circuit. Lando Norris qualified second for McLaren, 0.201s slower on 1:22.408.

Qualifying

Oscar Piastri completed the top three for McLaren with a best Q3 time of 1:22.437 in the final qualifying session of round 24. George Russell placed fourth for Mercedes on 1:22.645, while Charles Leclerc took fifth for Ferrari on 1:22.730.

Fernando Alonso secured sixth for Aston Martin with a 1:22.902 in Q3. Gabriel Bortoleto qualified seventh for Sauber on 1:22.904, just 0.002s behind Alonso.

Front row

Norris joined Verstappen on the front row after progressing through Q1 in 1:23.178 and Q2 in 1:22.804 before his final 1:22.408. Piastri followed in third after setting 1:22.605 in Q1, 1:23.021 in Q2 and 1:22.437 in Q3.

Top 10

Esteban Ocon took eighth for Haas F1 Team with a Q3 lap of 1:22.913, and Isack Hadjar qualified ninth for RB F1 Team on 1:23.072. Yuki Tsunoda was the highest-placed driver not to reach Q3, ending the session 10th for Red Bull after a Q2 time of 1:23.034.
